Prince Bishops Brass are delighted to welcome their new Trumpet Player Chris Lewis.

Chris joins to fill the vacancy left after the retirement of founder member Mike Walton. Can we take this opportunity to thank Mike for all of the energy he put into setting up the group as well as his fantastic playing over many concerts.

Prince Bishops Brass Ensemble was formed by a group of brass playing friends who would meet each other whilst playing at various locations around the North of England. During the countless bars rest they encountered while playing for Choral Societies, Operatic Companies, Symphony Orchestras, Brass Bands, Function Bands and Big Bands they decided to get together as a Brass Quintet to eliminate the need to count quite as much. The line up of instruments is 2 Trumpets (doubling Flugel Horn, Eb and Piccolo Trumpet) French Horn, Trombone and Tuba. Being based in County Durham the name Prince Bishops Brass Ensemble was the obvious choice.

Prince Bishops Brass Ensemble has amassed an enormous repertoire of music, from Renaissance Brass Music through Baroque and Classical to upbeat jazz and swing arrangements.

We can provide just the right music for any occasion. For weddings we can add that touch of splendour with processional and recessional pieces, more reflective music for the signing of the register and then entertain your guests at the reception with a selection of swing and easy listening numbers.

For an evening concert we have a wide variety of music from Renaissance Brass Music to original works by contemporary composers. See our repertoire on this web site.

The small size of the group and versatility of the instrumental line up also makes it ideal to share a stage with a choir. Many choral works have been written with Brass accompaniment from the Venetian music of Gabrielli to the more recent Gloria by John Rutter.

The group are committed performers and strongly believe that live music should be exciting and entertaining. A concert by Prince Bishops Brass takes you on a tour of all musical styles from Baroque to Big Band with everything in between and can transport you across the oceans to other continents to experience the music of France or Spain or perhaps even further afield.
